2024 in outfits: from offbeat to downright odd

Warning: this post will be long. I am nothing if not loquacious. In 2024 my new year’s resolution was to dress weirder. I think I managed to succeed for the most part, although you all  can be the judge of that (although I suspect you’re an entirely imaginary audience at this point).  For some reason, no matter what order I select the images in, they insist on ordering themselves newest-first…so I guess we’ll start in December and work our way back to January.  This was my outfit to go see the Nosferatu movie. Dressing up to go to the movie theater is half the fun of going to see a movie! I planned this outfit days in advance and did a lot of alterations to pieces. This is from the day before when I was just trying on the pieces to make sure the basic concept worked and my shoddy stitching would hold together, which is why it’s missing the makeup and some accessories I added in the final look. Okay! Second try!

 Continuing the previous entry: It’s a me! Mostly vintage pieces (and mostly secondhand thrifted, like 99% of my wardrobe is). Hat is modern, jacket and sweater are both maybe 80s, pants are late 80s-early 90s riding denim (I have six or so pairs in the same era and size that I found at various thrift stores around town and am convinced belonged to a single person with a fantastic wardrobe), gloves are either 60s or 80s but fantastic either way (yellow lace! Yellow lace! Remember what I said about yellow lace? I love it!), and boots are just modern fast fashion mimics of the real thing. Not too comfortable, and scuff like the dickens, but very cute and will do until I can find proper go-gos!  I like to mug for cameras I cannot lie Back to the rummage sale finds!
